West Lakes Swimming

The DOH issued Safe Use of Recreational Waters Fact Sheet updated in October 2008 states that swimming in West Lakes should be avoided for 2 to 3 days “after a storm&rdquo. Although there is no exact definition of “storm”, David Cunliffe of the DOH Applied Environmental Health Section explained that it is intended to mean significant rain such as a 10-20mm downpour.
